<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I am a Cajun from New Orleans, so I know what good food tastes like!  I grew up there and partook in all of the yumminess the city has to offer.  I knew five food groups: carbs, fried, fatty, battered and buttered.  New Orleans is a very culture driven city; lots of amazing chefs are from New Orleans, yet we don&#8217;t know how to feed our children things that will actually keep them healthy.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I have to start out by saying that I was better off than most kids.  My Mom is an AMAZING cook and we had home cooked meals EVERY DAY.  Eating out was considered a treat and was usually a family outing to Pizza Hut for report card night.  I have a twin sister and we were sick growing up (had a skin disease that affected our muscles).  We were very tiny and my Mom said she did whatever it took to get us to eat and put on weight.  I remember going through a stint where, probably late elementary school, my Mom would make my sister Campbell&#8217;s Chicken and Stars soup and I would eat a little fried chicken sandwich that came prepackaged in a little box (I&#8217;d ask for mayo and cheese on it!)&#8230;for breakfast.  </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I asked her about it years later when we were having a conversation about <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><a title="Free No-Brainer Food Guide" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/free-nobrainer-food-guide" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">healthy food choices</span></a></strong></span> and she said she fed us whatever we asked for so we&#8217;d eat (and put on weight).  As a parent in the 80s, she was doing what she thought was best for her family.  This was before things like high fructose corn syrup, MSG and trans fats were considered unhealthy ingredients. (I remember my Mom having a huge bottle of MSG to sprinkle on the steaks we&#8217;d have every Saturday night!)</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I grew up around obesity.  So for my sister and I to be underweight growing up, it made it that much worse.  A majority of my family was (and still is) overweight or obese.  So it was the norm &#8211; and Kasey and I were the exception.  I was very active.  I danced six days a week until I graduated from high school.  And I danced 3-4 days a week in college.  My diet, however, remained unchanged and actually got worse as I got older.  Since I was so active, I never worried or gave any thought to how I was fueling my body.  In college, I ate at Chick-Fil-A several times a day, drank Dr. Pepper (no water) and loved my chocolate!  (Side note&#8230;one year for Lent, I decided to give up Dr. Pepper.  Instead of turning to water, I switched to Coke&#8230;.Still shaking my head at THAT Cajun logic!!!)</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Fast forward to post-college Kel.  I entered Corporate America as an Executive Assistant and sat at a desk for 8 hours a day.  I wasn&#8217;t dancing and I was still making the same poor food choices.  After a particularly stressful morning, I escaped to Sonic for lunch.  I ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich on Texas toast with fries and a Diet Coke and I ate the entire thing.  I remember just sitting in my car devouring it like a crack addict and almost feeling ashamed, but I continued to shovel because it made me feel good.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">It should have come as no surprise that being far less active, I began to put on weight.  30 pounds to be exact.  I was tired and my clothes were getting snugger by the day.  There was one day when I was sucking in as I zipped my jeans and thought &#8220;OK Kel, it&#8217;s time to go buy some bigger pants.  This is just the way it&#8217;s going to be.&#8221;  WOAH&#8230;What!?  What a HUGE lie I had planted in my OWN head.  There was absolutely no reason that had to be the case.  <strong>I AM IN CHARGE OF MY LIFE</strong> (well&#8230;God is, but I have the power to make healthy choices).  The muffin top that kept hanging over my jeans was NOT in my genes.  Obesity is not genetic.  Sure, some families may be larger boned than others, but <strong>quit lying to yourself by thinking that YOUR weight problem can be blamed on Grandma.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I BROKE THE CHAIN of obesity in my family.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Has it been an easy, quick, overnight fix?  Heck no!  It started with small steps, slowly changing my eating habits, learning about portion control, learning how to workout and, most importantly, surrounding myself with a supportive community.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I used <a title="Power 90® In-Home Boot Camp Challenge Pack" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/power-90-in-home-boot-camp-challenge-pack" target="_blank"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Power 90</span>,</span></a> <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a title="P90X® Challenge Pack" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/p90x-challenge-pack" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">P90X</span></a></span>, <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a title="Turbo Jam® Challenge Pack" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/turbo-jam-challenge-pack" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Turbo Jam</span></a></span> and Chalean Extreme to get into the best shape of my life.  <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a title="ChaLEAN Extreme® Challenge Pack" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/chalean-extreme-challenge-pack" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Chalean Extreme</span></a></span>, and now <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a title="LES MILLS PUMP Challenge Pack" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/les-mills-pump-challenge-pack" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Les Mills PUMP</span></a></span>, have helped me to shed the 56 pounds I put on during my pregnancy.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">One of the first things that I had to work on when starting my health and fitness journey was getting my mind right.  I grew up very closed minded.  I&#8217;m not sure why.  But I never started on working to better myself because I just assumed I was supposed to be fat and it was OK to eat crap.  Everyone else does.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">As I dig deeper, perhaps I was afraid of failing, so what was the point in starting?  I have succeeded in almost everything I&#8217;ve done, so becoming so open and vulnerable to failure was HUGE, but it was something that had to be done if I wanted to avoid following the trend of my family.  I also had to <strong>adopt the mindset that making good choices WILL make a positive difference.</strong> A difference that I may not be able to see right away, but that would soon become apparent if I remained consistent.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Taking the first baby steps of starting a workout program (<span style="color: #0000ff;"><a title="Power 90® In-Home Boot Camp Challenge Pack" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/power-90-in-home-boot-camp-challenge-pack" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Power 90</span></a></span>), having an accountability partner (my husband, Jimmy) and following the Power 90 food guide were easy in and of themselves &#8211; because they were small steps.  I wasn&#8217;t trying to look like Shaun T from the cover of <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a title="INSANITY® Challenge Pack" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/insanity-challenge-pack" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Insanity</span></a></span> on Day 1!!!  Once my body started changing for the better, out came the nay-sayers.  &#8221;Oh, she must be anorexic&#8221; (remember that I&#8217;m a very small build); &#8220;WHAT is that on your plate?&#8221; (freshly baked salmon!!!); &#8220;Why aren&#8217;t you eating any fried fish and french fries?&#8221;.  </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I still get comments like that to this day, almost 11 years into this journey.  Had I not been introduced to the <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong><a href="https://www.teambeachbody.com/signup/-/signup/free/41430" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">supportive community at Team Beachbody</span></a></strong></span>, those kinds of comments could have easily thrown me off the workout wagon and back on the path to things like heart disease, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and cancer.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I realized that I am the one taking a different path than others in my family.  And each time I&#8217;m around them, all I can do is continue setting a good example in hopes that I can break through to just one person.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">If you are of the &#8220;it&#8217;s genetic; I&#8217;m predestined to be fat&#8221; mindset, quit lying to yourself and know that <strong>YOU CAN break the chain</strong>.  All it takes is one simple step in the right direction and surrounding yourself with a supportive environment.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I wanted to pass along these <strong>INSANITY WORKOUT FREE TIPS</strong> to you to ensure you get the maximum results you want!</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">1. GET YOUR MIND RIGHT</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Before the first bead of sweat ever drops from you body, you must prepare your mind for your next 60 days. You need to decide right now that you are in this for the full two months. It doesn’t seem like a long time, but you would be shocked the number of people I talk to who quit in the first week.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Things to wrap your head around before starting <a href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/insanity-challenge-pack">INSANITY</a>:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">You WILL work hard.  Probably harder than you ever have before in your life.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">This is NOT a quick fix!  You aren’t going to look like Shaun T by Day 3.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">The scale is not how to judge your progress!  Performance &amp; Energy will be your guides.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">2. FORM IS KING</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I have heard Shaun T say this over and over again: <strong>FORM OVER SPEED!</strong> Insanity is a rare workout. There isn’t a slow intro to let your body warm up. It comes out of the gate fast and furiously. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and adrenaline Shaun T gives off. You feel like you need to keep up with everyone in the DVD. Let me let you in on a little secret. Most of the people in that video had 60 days to train with Shaun T in preparation to shoot the DVDs. If that group of fitness professionals needed 60 days to be ready, don’t feel bad when you aren’t at their level on day one.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">If you are really serious about performing at your max and avoiding injury then WATCH the workout before you do it. That way you can see the progressions and pay close attention to Shaun T’s form. Let’s face it; once the workout starts, we are so busy trying to keep up that exercise form is the first thing to be compromised. And when you compromise form- BAM – that is when you get injured and can’t workout at all. No one wants that, do they?</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">3.  PACE YOURSELF</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">This could actually be labeled <strong>INSANITY FREE TIP</strong> 2a because it goes hand in hand with #2. Even though at times you may think otherwise, Shaun T cannot see you through your TV screen. He is not going to jump through the screen and yell at you if your pace is half of the Insanity cast members. In fact, on the many occasions I have had the privilege of training in person with Shaun T, I have seen him tell people to slow down. Your body will actually get BETTER RESULTS at a slower pace if you master perfect form!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">When you go faster than you should, you leave yourself open for injuries, discouragement, frustration, and getting light headed. No one wants that!</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">4. FUEL YOUR BODY PROPERLY</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Yes, there is a Nutrition Guide that comes with your Insanity DVDs! It amazes me how many people want to just jump into the workouts without paying any attention to how to eat during INSANITY.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">You probably bought INSANITY because you wanted to look like the success stories on the infomercial or to have abs like Shaun T. Well let me let you in on a little secret: <em>They didn’t get bodies like that eating whatever they wanted to.</em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Or even worse – many people are not eating enough! There was as much time and effort put into the nutrition guide as there was in creating the workouts.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">It’s only 60 days! Don’t you want to give yourself the best chance to get the ultimate results from your investment?  </span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: verdana, geneva;">If you have been following my blog, you know that I was recently hand picked to be part of a very select test group to go through the new <strong>Ultimate Reset Cleanse</strong> from Beachbody, creators of <a title="FINAL P90X2 Review and Results with Pictures!" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/final-p90x2-review-results-pictures">P90X</a>, <a title="INSANITY® Challenge Pack" href="http://www.nelsongy.com/challenge-packs/insanity-challenge-pack">INSANITY</a>, and BRAZIL BUTT LIFT. As I pointed out in this previous post about my <a href="http://www.nelsongy.com/beachbody-ultimate-reset-cleanse" target="_blank">Ultimate Reset Journey</a>, while it was flattering to be chosen for this test group, I still had quite a few concerns about embarking on this 21 Day Cleanse.  The thought of not working out for 21 days was very daunting to me.  Even though it has been over 10 years since I lost 100 pounds, there were still very real fears that if I didn’t keep moving I could gradually revert to my old habits – seriously!   I mean, I am a pretty healthy guy.  Was this Ultimate Reset even designed for someone like me?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Which leads you to your first question when deciding if the Beachbody Ultimate Reset will help you:</span></p>
<h2><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">WHO IS THE BEACHBODY ULTIMATE RESET FOR?</span></h2>
<p><center><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;"><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lDN5UmAm434" frameborder="0" width="560" height="315"></iframe></span><center></center></center><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">What I liked best about watching these testimonies was the athlete looking to improve his performance.  I heard Beachbody Ultimate Reset co-creator, Isabelle Daikeler, share that a test group of Olympic level athletes went through the Ultimate Reset (many of them with the same fear of not working out for 21 days), only to see their performance improve once completing the cleanse!  So with that knowledge, I was sold!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">My second question may be the same question you are asking yourself now.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>Improving my energy and focus</strong> was very appealing to me. I knew I didn’t get enough sleep, drank too much caffeine, and could use digestion improvement!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">The first thing that was definitely a big change was the amount of water I was asked to drink. I always THOUGHT I drank plenty of water. Boy was I WRONG! Drinking a gallon of distilled water a day really showed me how badly I was lacking in this area. It has been a habit I have continued to utilize now that I have finished the Ultimate Reset.</span></p>

Not so much the type of food (I’m a pretty unpicky eater), but more about how involved and time consuming the food prep would be. I’m a ‘cook in bulk and reheat throughout the week’ kind of guy. <p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">The miracle of social media and being involved in the fitness industry has brought a ton of interesting people into my world that I never would have met otherwise.  Today’s special guest is the ultimate example of that.  Indie rock enthusiasts are very familiar with the “strangely literate and loud” music of the band Say Anything.  I, however, was pretty oblivious of that genre, and had NO IDEA who Coby Linder was when he contacted me two years ago.  Say Anything fans know him as the band’s animated and extremely talented drummer.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I’m slightly embarrassed by my ignorance of their existence.  All I knew was this dude contacted me saying he really dug P90X and INSANITY, found me via my YouTube videos, and ‘oh yeah’ he had a ‘band’.   My initial reaction was, “Cute, this kid with a little garage band lost some weight and reached out to me to find out more about joining my Crew as a Beachbody Coach.”</span></p>
<p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Boy…was I dumb!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><a href="http://www.nelsongy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Coby-Linder3.jpeg"><img class="alignleft  wp-image-1737" title="Coby Linder3" src="http://www.nelsongy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Coby-Linder3-300x199.jpg" alt="" width="210" height="139" /></a>Not only had Coby and lead singer, Max Bemis, founded the band back in 2000, but they sold over half a million records, toured the world, and were in the process of writing their latest record, Anarchy My Dear.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Fast forward two years:  Coby has become one of my best buds.  He is quite possibly the most on-fire, passionate person I have heard talk about what Beachbody programs and products have not only done for him, but what they are doing for those people he has been able to reach out and help.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Last week, I had the privilege of traveling to Houston, TX to see my very first Say Anything show. </span><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">The whole</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Both shows were phenomenal and watching the workout Coby goes thru on a nightly basis behind his drum kit made me curious about how his physical transformation (75 POUNDS LOST!) has impacted him professionally.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">&#8220;How do you do it?&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">That’s a question that I get a lot.  I am a full time working Mom who has managed to <strong>get rid of her baby weight, find time for workouts, eating right</strong>, family time and working as a Beachbody Coach, but balance it all out with date nights and cheat meals!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I have to say that it’s not easy and it’s something that I struggle with on a daily basis.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Asher, our precious angel, turned one in February and the past year has been a year of challenges, change and growth (but not on my waistline!)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">With the overwhelming responsibilities that come along with being a new Mom, it’s often easy to put ourselves on the back burner and just focus on the rest of the family.  I was very guilty of that.  I was working over 40 hours a week, commuting almost an hour each way to work, coming home in the evening to immediate full time Mom/Wife duty and I was driving myself into the ground.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I was exhausted, burnt out and miserable.  I had no time for myself.  My attitude at work was suffering, my attitude at home was suffering and I was fed up.  Something needed to change.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">So I took a hard look at our life, my priorities and my schedule, and Jimmy and I came up with a plan to help ME work on ME.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>First – I needed to get moving.</strong>  I tried numerous times after having Asher to get back into my workout routine.  But I grew increasingly more frustrated with every failed attempt.  Each time on the “workout wagon” would last about three days and Asher would melt down on day four which would throw me off the wagon.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>Second – I needed to clean up my diet.</strong>  Giving into my raging hormones during pregnancy was fine, but after gaining 56 pounds with Asher, there was no baby in my belly to blame French fries on!!!!!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>Third – I needed support.</strong>  Yes, I live with Coach Jimmy and he is my rock.  But there are often times where we are each other’s greatest enablers.  One “patio weather” day would easily derail either of us and, for me, that would lead to me falling off the workout wagon.  So I needed to find another support system to help keep me accountable.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">The plan…</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I joined one of <a href="http://www.nelsongy.com/take-nelsongy-beachbody-challenge" target="_blank">Jimmy’s Challenge Groups</a>.  I chose what I like to consider my soul mate workout, ChaLEAN Extreme and I committed to the 90 day Challenge of working out, clean eating, drinking Shakeology and daily check-ins on the Facebook group!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">I tried 4am workouts, but with my busy schedule, I was exhausted by noon and still had a full day ahead of me.  So Jimmy and I worked our schedules so I could workout right when I got home.  This worked much better and it was a great way to unwind after a stressful day!</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">The goal…</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Be comfortable in my own skin and confident enough to wear a bikini when we went to Atlantis with tons of our fellow Beachbody coaches.  It was 90 days away and the perfect amount of time to get a round of ChaLEAN Extreme in!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Here’s a little insight into what my day is like:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">4:30am </span></p>

<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Alarm goes off / Asher usually wakes up</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Shush Asher back to sleep</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Shower/get ready</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">5:30am </span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Asher usually wakes back up, nurse him back to sleep </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Finish getting ready</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">5:45am </span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Gather prepped food (am snack, lunch, pm snack)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">(Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays – gather Asher’s stuff to go play with Grandparents)</span></li>

<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">But <strong>the key, for me, has been to be open</strong>.  Open to trying different schedules to find one that works; open to spending time on the weekends prepping food for the week so clean eating during the week becomes a no-brainer; open to being OK if you temporarily get derailed and using your support system to help keep you on track; open to letting other people help you (this is a big one for me) and open to letting go.  Getting my priorities in check helped to open the door to so many things in our life.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">We now outsource a lot of things – we have a nanny that comes a few times a week who not only plays with Asher but helps to straighten the house, we have a housekeeper that comes every couple of weeks to scrub, we have someone to take care of the lawn and most importantly, I have amazing in-laws who love keeping Asher for Jimmy and I to have time together.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">My days are still very inconsistent and there are some days where I want to throw in the towel.  But remember, each day is a new day!  So what if you go to bed with a sink full of dishes, toys everywhere and three loads of laundry to be folded?!?!  It will be there for you to tackle tomorrow!  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><a href="http://www.nelsongy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/547984_10150729239819846_732229845_9193958_1793505011_n.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-1537" title="Kelly after challenge group" src="http://www.nelsongy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/547984_10150729239819846_732229845_9193958_1793505011_n-81x300.jpg" alt="Kelly after challenge group" width="81" height="300" /></a>I am happy to say that after the <a href="http://www.nelsongy.com/take-nelsongy-beachbody-challenge" target="_blank">90 day Challenge Group</a>, I met my goal and am now back at my pre-baby weight.  My self confidence is so much better (one of my bosses has complimented me on how I’ve been carrying myself differently lately!), my attitude at home is immensely improved (even though I still work on the going to bed with a mess issue), I am fitting into my pre-preggo clothes and I get time with my boys each evening.  <strong>I just take it one day at a time and am open to what God has in store for me each day!</strong>  Embrace the challenge and be open to growth.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">My wife and I did our first round of P90X in 2004 before it started to dominate TV infomercials and YouTube videos.  It played a huge role, not only in my 100 pound weight loss, but in completely transforming my body’s composition.  So when I heard that Tony and the Beachbody team were developing a sequel, I again wanted to be one of the first to try it.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Since that first round of P90X in 2004, I have had the privilege of getting to know Tony Horton as a friend and workout with him personally on numerous occasions.  If Tony has an exercise, secret or technique I’ve done it.  So I wanted to share an ‘insider’s’ perspective with my P90X review.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">P90X2 is a 90-day program, just like P90X.  It uses the same philosophy of muscle confusion where you are constantly mixing and matching the exercises you do for ultimate results.  P90X2 is also broken into 3 Phases just like the original.</span></p>
<h2><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">P90X2 Phase 1 – Foundation Phase</span></h2>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">The first thing that was very apparent in the Foundation Phase is the focus on your core strength and balance.  Almost every exercise incorporated some kind of medicine ball or balance ball.  The first week can be a bit frustrating. Spending all your time trying to find your balance, falling off the ball, and learning these unique moves you can feel like you aren’t getting in your usual sweat-inducing workout.  But I encourage you to stick with it.  What it showed me very quickly is that my chest, arms, and back were strong but I seriously lacked strength and stability in my core!</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Right about the time you master some of the ‘circus tricks’ of Phase 1, it’s time to get back to old school strength work with Phase 2.  Tony brings back many of the P90X moves we all loved so much, but now you are able to incorporate your new found core strength with the use of the balance and medicine balls.</span></p>

<h2><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">P90X2 Phase 3 – Performance Phase</span></h2>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">This by far was my FAVORITE phase!  As you heard Tony describe in the video at the top of the page, this phase incorporates a new type of training called Post-Activation Potentiation.  I’m not a scientist, and I’m still not totally clear on what it is and how it works.  All I know is – <strong>I LOVE P.A.P WORKOUTS!</strong> Phase 3 has two of them: P.A.P Upper and P.A.P Lower.  They are challenging, fun, and totally bring out your inner athlete!</span></p>

<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>No Cardio.</strong>  As an INSANITY Cast Member, I love my cardio.  P90X2 does not have a true ‘cardio workout’.  Now that doesn’t mean you won’t work up quite a sweat as you get your heart rate up.  While not a pure cardio routine, the new Plyocide workout will have you reaching for your <a href="http://www.teambeachbody.com/shop/-/shopping/P90XRRFPackets?referringRepId=41430">P90X Results &amp; Recovery Formula</a></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>Requires Patience.</strong>  You have to be willing to try, fail, and show back up the next day – especially in Phase 1.  With the incorporation of medicine and balance balls, the first few days can be quite frustrating.  I encourage you to stick with it. You will surprise yourself with what you are capable of by Week 4.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>Not for Everyone.</strong>  As I stated before P90X2 is NOT for beginners.  If you haven’t worked out in some time, swallow your pride and start with a program like <a href="http://www.teambeachbody.com/shop/-/shopping/Power90?referringRepId=41430">Power 90</a>, <a href="http://www.teambeachbody.com/shop/-/shopping/RevAbs?referringRepId=41430">RevAbs</a>, or even the original <a href="http://www.teambeachbody.com/shop/-/shopping/P90X?referringRepId=41430">P90X</a>.</span></li>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>P90X2 Review Pros</strong></span></p>

<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>No 90 Minute Yoga!</strong>  The #1 complaint most people have with the original P90X is 90 long minutes of yoga. P90X2 is an hour long, faster paced, and moves along much quicker than the original.  No crazy balance postures.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>Foam Rolling.</strong>  P90X2 introduces you to the concept of the Foam Roller.  Each workout starts with a slow progressive stretch and foam roll.  It really allows your body to wake up and feel awesome. Plus it makes the actual workouts much shorter!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;"><strong>Only workouts 5 Days a Week with P90X2.</strong> Even though the actual workouts are shorter, they are very intense.  Because of the added intensity the importance for recovery time is crucial. Plus the second rest day P90X2 encourages you to get ‘Active Rest’ like going for a walk or a leisurely bike ride.</span></li>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">Yep, you read that title correctly.  More and more studies have come out that say over half of the people who start diets or workouts quit.  Think about how many people made the New Year’s resolution to lose weight.  Maybe you are one of those people.  Well it’s only been 4 months since the first of the year, how many of those people are still on their weight loss plan?  I would bet my money that the majority of them have quit.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">The saddest part of this scenario is the wasted money and time that was invested initially.  Maybe you joined a gym, bought a program like P90X or INSANITY, or spent money on a food plan like Jenny Craig.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 14px;">You know what?  I have to interrupt this blog post.  I have too much to say about this to capture it via print.   This needs a video so we can just TALK ….</span></p>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">If you have been visiting this blog for any amount of time, it should be obvious how important physical exercise is for you.&nbsp; Not just for those wanting to squeeze into a smaller pair of jeans, but for your over all health and well being.&nbsp;&nbsp; Many studies have been done showing <strong>how physical exercise can impact mindset, confidence, and stress levels</strong>. </span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">Don&rsquo;t worry, this isn&rsquo;t going to become a preachy post that I write from behind my pulpit.&nbsp; All I know is that there have been times in my life when I was at my physical peak, listening to all the positive affirmation audios, and was still a wreck of a person at my core.&nbsp; There was no peace in my life even though I thought I was doing everything &lsquo;right&rsquo;. </span></span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><br />

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">Again, this has nothing to do with your particular &lsquo;religious affiliation&rsquo;. In fact, I am probably the least traditionally religious person I know.&nbsp; But I recognized something wasn&rsquo;t right.&nbsp;&nbsp; As a proactive person, if I see a problem; I look for a solution.&nbsp;&nbsp; When I was 100 pounds heavier and reached the &lsquo;enough is enough&rsquo; moment, I was introduced to Beachbody products and a support community who didn&rsquo;t judge me. They embraced me and helped me to transform my body.&nbsp; So naturally I would seek out help in not feeling at peace in my business, personal life, and spirit.</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">Which leads me to an amazing event I attended here in Dallas last week.&nbsp; For the past year, I have been working with two Coaches to help me with my business and my mindset (I told you I am proactive!).&nbsp; <a href="http://arealchange.com/blog" target="_blank">Sandi Krakowski</a> and <a href="http://mindsetmaven.com" target="_blank">PJ McClure</a> have been huge assets in the growth of&nbsp;<a href="http://nelsongy.com" target="_blank">Nelsongy Fitness</a>.&nbsp; When they announced they were teaming up with Rabbi Daniel Lapin to do a business event I didn&rsquo;t hesitate in getting my ticket.&nbsp; Then I saw the title of the event&#8230;</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">Huh?&nbsp; What the heck does God have to do with my business?&nbsp; Was this going to be an event that pulled the guilt string to get me to give to a certain charity?&nbsp; But I trusted Sandi and PJ, so I assembled a team of fellow Beachbody Coaches, grabbed my notebook, and grabbed a seat up front with an open mind.</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">It was only a matter of minutes before I knew this wasn&rsquo;t going to be like any event I had ever attended.&nbsp; PJ McClure took the stage to welcome us.&nbsp; What he said next floored me,</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">I always figured if I was called to do something for God it would require me to sell all my things and go live in a hut in Africa while eating bugs and twigs.&nbsp; You mean it&rsquo;s not a greedy thing to want to build a big business?&nbsp;&nbsp; Isn&rsquo;t the &lsquo;love of money the root of all evil&rsquo;?</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">I quickly learned that yes, some people are called to give up their earthly possessions and go into foreign missions. But what if God called you to build a BILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS that could touch and impact millions of lives, and fund worthwhile efforts like those of the missionary in the hut.&nbsp;&nbsp; Wow!</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">When Sandi took the stage there was electricity that ran thru my body.&nbsp; I wasn&rsquo;t sure what was in store, but I knew I was ready for it.&nbsp; She reiterated what PJ opened with by saying, &ldquo;God has never said &lsquo;shame on you&rsquo; for asking for something too big.&rdquo;</span></span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><br />
	</span></span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">The coolest part of this event is that there were people there of different spiritual backgrounds, belief systems and businesses.&nbsp; What was taught wasn&rsquo;t a specific dogma, but universal truths of ways people in business could be just as noble as an iconic figure like Mother Theresa.</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">I was also reminded:<strong> &ldquo;When there is opposition &ndash; it is a confirming sign!&rdquo;</strong>&nbsp; What a revelation!&nbsp; Remember that next time you are struggling with staying motivated to workout, faced with a difficult food choice or enduring criticism of close friends and family for your new healthy lifestyle.&nbsp; If you have resistance that comes against you, that means you have a big worthy cause!&nbsp; How reassuring is that?</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">One of the most entertaining portions of the whole weekend was getting to listen to &lsquo;America&rsquo;s Rabbi&rsquo;, <a href="http://www.rabbidaniellapin.com/index.php" target="_blank">Daniel Lapin</a>.&nbsp; Through a series of jokes and witty antidotes he reminded us that great things happen when God touches someone&rsquo;s effort that by faith took action first! The theme of the entire weekend can be summed up in this quote from Rabbi Lapin:</span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">And that is why I decided to write this post today on a fitness blog, to let you know that I truly am obsessively preoccupied with YOUR success!&nbsp; I know what it feels like to think success and real results are for &lsquo;other people&rsquo;.&nbsp; I understand the belief system that you don&rsquo;t have the money, time, motivation, or know how to truly live the healthy and abundant life you were called for.&nbsp; I have been exactly where you are.&nbsp; Taking that first step of faith towards change can be scary.&nbsp; Fear, resistance, and negative thoughts scream in your ear to stay where you are because you might fail, lose money, waste time, and be disappointed.&nbsp; I get it!&nbsp; But I also cling to a bible verse I was introduced to as a child.&nbsp; &ldquo;For where two or more are gathered together in my name, I am there with them&rdquo;- Matthew 18:20</span></span></div>
